transform the way we see ourselves and each other..

FOUNDATIONS OF TANTRA YOGA // Continuing Education

With its uniquely inspired and practical worldview, the ancient tradition of
Tantra offers the opportunity to study and experience the complete flowering of the sacred path of  Hatha Yoga.

Tantra perceives the body as an universe unto itself and teaches that by
mastering the forces in our body, we can be more masterful in life.

This principal is the basis for weaving the practice of asana together with all the diverse
practices of hatha––i.e., pranayama, bandha, meditation, chakra, mantra, kundalini-
oriented practices, visualization and more…) into an integrated system.

By understanding tantra, students and teachers, can amplify the impact of yoga practice.

In this immersive workshop/training we’ll explore tantra’s foundational principles and
deepening practices to help us understand, integrate and potentially teach Tantra Yoga.

Each day we focus one of four essential principles that illumine tantra yoga practice and
the theories that support them. We will progress through these four themes that mark
tantra’s unique contribution to yoga and transforms the way we see ourselves, each
other and how it can help us most fully embody our yoga.

Going Deeper
Over the course of the four days we will progress through the following themes:

Day 1: Moon, Sun, Fire.
Day 2: Prana Shakti
Day 3: Kundalini Shakti
Day 4: Tantra Yoga: Asana, Bandha Mudra

Stage 1. Moon, Sun, Fire
According to tantra, a four-stage process to approach practice systematically, each
emphasizes a different orientation: preparation, mind (moon), energy (sun), spirit (fire).
Depending on which of the four we wish to address, the way we practice––techniques
and goals––should naturally vary. We will outline and then practice these distinct
orientations, and the specific techniques that ensure your practice meets your needs.

Stage 2. Prana Shakti
Prana (lifeforce) is the great mover, animating all physiological and mental activity. From
the view of tantra, a vital intention of yoga practice is to ensure that you affect prana so
that it helps you consistently move in a positive, life-affirming direction––supporting our
growth and evolution. Integrating the core teachings of Yoga and Tantra, we will deepen
our connection to life-force while, exploring the principles that connect you to prana,
through asana, pranayama and meditation for healing, balance and personal evolution.

Stage 3. Kundalini Shakti

Kundalini is untapped potential–-the dormant power that pervades all life. The yogic
processes for awakening it leads to expansion of capacity, creativity, awareness and
love. We demystify kundalini––as the intent behind all yoga practices––and explore the
principles of how to enliven it through asana and other hatha techniques. We also
explore the art of sequencing to awaken the power of spirit and the heart of practice.

Stage 4.
Tantra Yoga: Asana, Bandha Mudra
Tantra is sometimes referred to as "the science of energy management.” Thus, one of
the most important concepts of tantra yoga is that practice should emphasize our
sensitivity and connection to life-force/prana. Our focus is on the key principles and
methods to cultivate our relationship to energy.
